Great Author Hashtags

April 22nd, 2009 · 1 Comment · Market My Novel, Uncategorized

Hashtags are a great way to follow conversations on Twitter. There are a ton of mini-conversations that authors can follow. You can even find publishers or agents who take Twitter queries. You just have to dig – and follow regularly.

Here is a list of some hashtags I follow:

#authors
#bookpromotion
#interviews
#books
#marketing
#writer
#bookmarketing
#editor
#pr
#wordsmith
#blog

Not sure what a hashtag is, or how to use it? Watch this video from Mari Smith.

Don't try to follow every conversation. It is impossible and will do nothing but stress you out. If you are a Twitter addict – like me – then be sure to limit the amount of time you search conversations.

Have other hashtags you like? Leave them in the comments section!

HOT TIP: Many Mac users opt for TweetDeck when it comes to hashtag searches. I prefer the new Tweetie for Mac application, which has a search function that works much better for me. PC users can find hashtag conversations at sites like Tweetvisor. Follow Market My Novel: @marketmynovel or @angelawilson.

These are great suggestions Angela. But I'd add some more like for example #litchat and #writechat which have somewhat programed schedules and even the #queryfail that turned into #queryday.
