I like Harry Connolly’s paranormal debut, Child of Fire – but not everyone did.
Connolly links to reviews of his book at his blog – including the bad ones. Here is Connolly’s latest post on recent reviews. (I particularly like the one about Doritos.)
Kudos to the author for taking the bad with good.

It IS amazing how two different people can come away with entirely different feelings about art or books. I agree that as long as they are intelligent about it – and don’t become trolls – then it can be pretty cool and create amazing discussion.
A friend of mine once posted two opposing reviews on one of his comics (he’s a comic book artist). It shouldn’t amaze me at this point to see how drastically different two viewpoints on a piece of art (or writing) can be, but it does. Especially when the reviewers both state their case in an intelligent, thoughtful manner – it really makes me think.
